Just in time for the Roots Picnic, Okayplayer & Crooks and Castles present the Official Roots Picnic Mixtape 2014! Mixed by Philly’s own Matthew Law (formerly known as DJ PHSH) who absolutey murders it with his selection and blends featuring picnic jams from all the artists on the bill including The Roots (of course), Snoop Dogg, Janelle Monáe, ASAP Ferg, Action Bronson, Chill Moody, Jhene Aiko, and more. There are still a few tickets for the Picnic or head over here and enter to win a pair.
West Philly’s own Chill Moody has kicked off 2014 with a bang and is showing no signs of slowing down. In the first quarter alone he’s released a well-received independent LP, ‘WhoDoYouLove… More?’, debuted the video for the LPs lead single, “LastNightInTown”, on MTV Jams, sold out Philadelphia’s famed Hard Rock Cafe, racked up numerous regional Hip-Hop Artist of the Year awards, and is scheduled to perform at this year’s annual Roots Picnic festival for the second time in three years. Chill Moody continues this surge of momentum with his new single “Concrete Jungle” featuring Grammy-nominated crooner Mack Wilds. The JoeLogic & Dilemma-produced track is nothing less than a summer anthem, embodying the heart and hustle it takes to succeed on the mean streets of the city. “Concrete Jungle” is available on iTunes, Amazon & Google Play.
